Chiangkhong-Pakbeng-Luangprabang-Bangkok

Day 1: Houeisay

Arrive in Houeisay from Chiang Khong (Thailand). Discover the traditional lifestyle of the Lu minority at Ban Namkeung 26 km out of town. These minority people move from South China hundreds of year ago and formed a community of houses near the river. Houses are facing the temple is the sign of respect to their Lord Buddha. Afternoon return to Houei Xay shopping for souvenirs eg sapphires or precious stones at the local shops.

 

Day 2: Pakbeng

Take a boat downstream on the Mekong River to Pakbeng. Enjoy the magnificent view of beautiful mountainous ranges and natural forests. Stop at Ban Houeilampen, a Hmong minority village with 50 families approx. Most of their traditional dresses are still well preserved with colorful wooly boa collars and delicate hand embroidered trousers. Admire the wonderful scenery and rural life along the Mekong River. Arrive at Pakbeng evening.

 

Day 3: Luangprabang

Visit the local market in the morning, then continue the boat trip downstream to Luang Prabang, the Asia's best preserved ancient city and it was recently awarded with World Heritage status by UNESCO, a move that will ensure that Luang Prabang remains pristine from generation to generation. On the way stop at Pak Ou and visit the caves to see the thousands of Buddha since the 16th century. This cave was found by the King Setthathirath. Arrive late afternoon at Luang Prabang transfer to hotel.

Day 4: Luangprabang

Alms offering at early morning along the street. City tour of Luang Prabang visit the former royal palace "currently a Museum" and temples, Wat Visun where one can see the biggest Buddha Statue in Laos and many ancient wooden and bronze Buddha images which collected from the ruin of temples in the north of Laos. Wat Xieng Thong the most beautiful temple in Luangprabang with its mosaic decoration and the former royal carriage. The visit continue on the top of mount Phousi overlooking the city of Luangprabang and visit Ban Phanom the popular weaving village.

 

Day-5: Departure

Breakfast and then transfer to Airport to take off to Bangkok.
